Duties & Responsibilities:
- Minimum 5 years working experience required on full size excavators
- Primary experience is on an Excavator, but ability to operate backhoe, dozer, &/or loader an asset
- Achieves maximum production with full attention to crew safety and the prevention of incidents
- Understands & completes daily equipment service requirements and inspection log
- Participates in safe work planning and communicates effectively
- Has experience with various shoring types and excavations to maximum reach of digging depth
- Has experience working with pipe crews and is comfortable working in tight spaces and in traffic
- Has experience digging around live systems
- Can pull trench, cut slope or grade to finish tolerance
- Experience with GPS systems an asset

- Reads drawings and prepares notes to lay various municipal pipe types & systems
- Understands offset layout & cut sheets provided by subcontracted survey companies
- Maintains, checks and transports survey instruments
- Communicates effectively with pipe crew to set pipe or elements correctly
- Keeps notes to record installation details and accurately transposes all of those to as built drawings neatly
- Stays 2 steps ahead with preparation for the upcoming operation
- Can work under pressure – understands that nothing happens until the pipe shooter is good to go
- Can switch to road building when required
- Experience with GPS systems an asset

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervise and be responsible for safety, quality and protecting the environment for the assigned work
- Lead crews to install deep utilities in difficult ground conditions – open cut and shored
- Read and interpret drawings and specifications to provide clear instructions to the crew
- Maintain daily records including crew and equipment time, material receiving, productions and summary of activity on site
- Ability to train each position on the pipe crew and take responsibility for the crew’s development
- Work with the project superintendent to plan ahead and ensure materials and resources are in place ahead of the work
- Act as a working foreperson – lead from the front lines, direct the work and be with your crew at all times

We are in search of a Civil Superintendent in Victoria with extensive knowledge and experience in city, urban pipe laying and road building to join their team. As a Copcan Superintendent, you will be the leader in providing direction to the trades and construction staff in the field, while coordinating their responsibilities and activities on multiple sites.
Key Accountabilities:
· Create and execute project plans to meet project schedules and critical path dates
· Ensure that crews excel within our safety culture and model the high standards that we expect of all employees
· Ensure that while production targets are met, our promise to our clients to provide a high-quality product is never compromised
· If a project issue or a scheduling conflict occurs, you will be one of the primary channels and will be responsible for solving these problems
· Understand job costing and forecasting costs to form a basis of decision on critical project tasks
· Understand contracts to recognize scope change and associated responsibilities
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Develop safety plans specific to projects and ensure the project team works those plans
· Leads, schedules, and directs trades, subcontractors and other construction staff
· Mentor foremen and work closely with junior field engineers on site
· Team with project manager to ensure seamless project delivery to the client and identify critical aspects of execution
· Problem solve and propose creative project solutions on site in a fast-paced environment under the constraint of tight construction schedules
· Participate in estimates of execution hours, equipment & other resources required for construction projects
· Meet with new and existing clients to develop project opportunities through relationships
· Participate in pre-tender site and scope evaluations with the estimators
Qualifications:
· Possess 6-10 years of leadership experience in the construction sector managing sites and projects similar to the jobs in our project portfolio
· Background of successfully completing complex underground civil utilities (potable water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, district heating), earthworks, road building and other infrastructure projects
· Experience working with relevant soil conditions in all applications (peat, running sand, glacial till, etc.)
· Technical diploma or bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field of study is an asset
· Proven track record of managing a diverse and challenging portfolio of construction projects
· Proficient knowledge of MS Office software

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Repair and maintain fleet HD equipment, trucks and trailers in our full service HD shop. Not limited to maintaining and repairing highway trucks, rock trucks, loaders, dozers, excavators, skid steers, backhoe, grader, etc
- Manage your field service truck
- Inspect equipment for proper performance and determine faults and malfunctions
- Adjust equipment & repair/replace defective parts components or systems according to scope of work to restore equipment to original manufacture specifications
- Testing repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance
- Complete accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists
- Stay current with industry, customer, and product developments and technical best practices
- Comply with safety policies and identify/report any unsafe work habits
- Maintain hand tools and equipment to ensure safe operation
Candidate Qualifications:
- Preference given to ticketed journeyman
- Will consider 3rd or 4th year apprentice
- Valid BC driver’s license, class 1 is considered an asset
- First aid is considered an asset
- Basic welding skills considered an asset
